Police has released a batch of pictures of suspects allegedly linked to the Easter Sunday bombings. The veracity of at least one of the pictures has been disputed.
Police requests the public to call with any information on the whereabouts of these individuals on the following numbers: 0718591771, 0112422176 and 0112395606.
The picture of one of the alleged suspects, identified as Abdul Cader Fathima Cadya, has raised questions on social media, as her picture is identical to that of one Amara Majeed, said to be a student of Brown University.
According to a Daily Mail report dated December 2015, Majeed is the daughter of Sri Lankan immigrants living in the US. She made headlines that year for writing an open letter to then US presidential candidate Donald Trump, calling him out for allegedly inciting hate speech.
UPDATE: Police has released a correction, acknowledging the mistaken identity. The Police Media Division confirmed that the picture issued previously was of a different person, as received by the CID, but maintained that the name Abdul Cader Fathima Cadya is indeed that of a real suspect.
