At least 45 children have been killed to date from the series of bomb blasts that hit churches and luxury hotels across Sri Lanka, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) said issuing a statement yesterday (23).

Both Sri Lankan nationals and foreign nationals are among the deceased children and scores of children are receiving treatment in the hospitals at present.

Many children have lost one or both of their parents while countless children have witnessed shocking and senseless violence, according to the UNICEF.

The UNICEF further noted that it condemns the violence occurred in Sri Lanka in the strongest possible terms as every child has the right to safety and security.
