Archbishop Welby visits Katuwapitiya Church

Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby in conversation with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe at Temple Trees yesterday 29 Aug

The Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby yesterday 29 Aug visited St Sebastian’s Church in Katuwapitiya where more than a hundred people were killed in the Easter Sunday suicide attacks.

He interacted with survivors of the blast and prayed for the victims along with the Roman Catholic Archbishop Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith.

Earlier in the day, the head of the global Anglican Church and the Church of Ceylon called on Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe at Temple Trees.

He was accompanied by the Presiding Bishop of the Church of Ceylon Fr. Dhiloraj Canagasabey, Tourism Minister John Amaratunge and others.

Welby is on a three-day visit to Sri Lanka.
