Met department says expect thundershowers and localised strong winds in some areas, even as others continue to be enguled if in debilitating heat.
The Meteorological Department forecasts showers or thundershower in several areas of the country tomorrow afternoon including some parts of the Western Province, despite the debilitating heat.
Showers are expected in the Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern, Uva and Western provinces after 2pm tomorrow, the Met. Department announced today, adding that it will likely spread to the Ampara and Batticaloa districts.
Mist is expected in the early hours of tomorrow in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces. The Met. Department also warned of temporary localised strong winds during tomorrow’s thundershowers, advising the public to take necessary precautions.
Despite surprise rains, however, the ongoing heat spell will continue as the sun will be directly over the latitudes of Sri Lanka till 15 April. According to the Met. Department, the sun will be directly overhead the following areas tomorrow around 12.11pm: Nalluruwa, Bellapitiya, Bothale, Kahawatta, Kadurugalla, Konketiya, Habessa and Dombagahawela.
