The Federation of University Teachers Association (FUTA) is threatening to strike from 10 September if they do not receive a positive response with regard to their salary increments.

Speaking to the media yesterday (26 Aug) in Colombo FUTA President Prof Rohan Fernando said that the government had increased the pay of University Teachers to the 107 per cent mark promised to all state sector employees.

He said that since 2016 the salary of university lecturers has only been increased by 92 per cent when compared to other government employees.
