The prevailing windy condition in the northern part of the island is expected to continue in the coming days, the Department of Metrology said today (12).
Showers will occur in the Western, Southern, Central, Sabaragamuwa and Northwestern provinces and heavy falls of about 50mm can be expected in the aforesaid areas.
Moderate showers may also occur in the Badulla, Anuradhapura, Vavuniya and Mannar districts.
The Met Department further said that strong, gusty winds of up to 60 km/h are likely to occur in the Northern, North Central and Northwestern provinces and in the Trincomalee and Matale districts.
Fairly strong winds of up to 50 km/h can also be expected across the island, the Met Department added.
