Nearly 2,000 visitors to the Enterprise Sri Lanka exhibition held in Jaffna registered for interest-subsidised loan from state banks at the event.
According to Government online news portal news.lk, the exhibition held at the Jaffna Muttraveli grounds drew over 300,000 people by Monday.
The Entrepreneurship Zone where loan applications were made available drew the biggest crowd, reported news.lk, with some 2,000 visitors signing up for the loan scheme.
The loans proper will be granted by the respective local branches of the applicants’ preferred state banks. The loan facilities include ‘Ran Aswenna’ and ‘Govi Navoda’ aimed to commercialise and mechanise agriculture.
The Finance Ministry will also conduct a two-day workshop at the Jaffna District Secretariat starting Friday (13) on a special programme to enable war widows and rehabilitated combatants to obtain Enterprise Sri Lanka loans without hassle, news.lk reported.
Enterprise Sri Lanka, initiated by the Finance Ministry, is an interest-subsidised loan scheme that seeks to create 100,000 entrepreneurs in Sri Lanka within a year.
