“Gamperaliya” gets more cash in election year

Ten fold increase in allocation for program in election year

In this election year the Government has allocated a huge chunk of cash for its Rural Development program “Gamperaliya.”

The budgetary allocation has been increased ten times up to Rs. 48,000 million from the previous budget allocation of Rs. 4,584 million, according to the media release from the Ministry of Finance.

The release also included the subject matters to be presented during the committee stage debate that will commence on Friday 15th March after the third reading of the budget 2019.

The media release shows the expenditures incurred and the allocations for the projects started and scheduled to be started from this year onward.

The project of resettling displaced people in the Northern and Eastern provinces was reduced to Rs. 1500 million, compared to the previous year’s allocation of Rs. 2093 million.
