Sri Lanka Railways has appointed a committee to investigate yesterday’s derailment of the Yal Devi express train, Railway Operations Superintendent Gamini Seneviratne said.
The express train from Colombo to Kankesanthurai derailed near the Galgamuwa railway station yesterday (27), which disrupted the railway operations along the Northern line. The committee is expected to determine the cause of the derailment.
Seneviratne noted that the restoration of the damaged railway tracks may take another few days.
However, a special shuttle bus service has been arranged between Maho and Galgamuwa railway stations to facilitate the commuters.
