Legal action will be taken against Prima Ceylon Ltd for increasing the price of wheat flour without its approval, the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) said.
Prima Ceylon Ltd reportedly took a unilateral decision to increase the price of a kilo of its wheat flour by Rs 5.50 with effect from today (06).
The company has notified all of its agents to comply with the price increase.
The CAA noted that as per the Gazette Extraordinary No. 1975/68 issued on 14 July 2016, the authority’s approval must be obtained before increasing the price of wheat flour.
