86 Cables Cars to be set up in Nuwara-Eliya

Cabinet has approved a proposal for a cable car project targeting tourists and locals in the Nuwara-Eliya District.

The cable cars will run from Nanu Oya through Lake Gregory to Signal Tree Hill and will be run by the Outdoor Engineering Lanka PVT Ltd with

The project worth 50 million USD was proposed by Outdoor Engineering Lanka and its parent partner Doppelmayr Cable Car, Austria.

The cable car system will be on 21 towers starting from Nanu Oya through Lake Gregory to the Single Tree Hill.

The 86 car operation is said to be able to carry 10 persons per carriage.

The project is scheduled to start with a minimum of 43 carriages.
