Last night’s violence in Negombo began after a drunken brawl, Police Spokesman Senior Superintendent Ruwan Gunesekara told Media earlier today.
The clash left “a few motorcycles and three-wheel taxis damaged but no one was hospitalized and no use of weapons was reported,” Gunesekara said.
He added that the police were able to control the situation immediately.
Two people have been arrested to the date due to the incident.
Gunesekara further said that the operations conducted by the police and tri- forces over the past few days have been successful as many weapons including swords and knives were seized during operations.
