The Navy seized an unidentified fishing vessel in the Southern seas yesterday (11 July) with 60 kilograms of narcotics onboard.
The vessel was not flying a flag nor bore any registration markings on its hull at the time of its seizure, the Navy said in a statement.
In a separate bust, the Navy seized a Sri Lankan multi-day fishing trawler allegedly transporting narcotics also in the Southern seas last Thursday (10 July). Four persons who were onboard were taken into custody, the Navy said.
The Navy suspects that the two vessels had maintained links with each other. Further investigation in this regard is being carried out at present.
